"The Arts Mean Business"
Economic Impact Study released
The Oklahoma Arts Council has released findings from a new study that shows the economic impact of the arts in Oklahoma. This report shows that the nonprofit arts and culture industry generated $314.8 million in local economic activity in the State of Oklahoma during 2008-2009.
“The arts mean business for Oklahoma,” said Suzanne Tate, executive director of the Oklahoma Arts Council. “As the official state agency for the support and development of the arts in Oklahoma, this study demonstrates what we see on a daily basis. Local communities that support the arts and culture reap the benefits through jobs, generate tax revenue and increased tourism.”
